Saul was an anointed putz
by IP_SEC inso ya tonights bible reading is 1 sam 14-15. in chapter 14 we have the account of saul's rash and foolish order/oath upon israel's army.
saul was the anointed leader of jehovah's people, yet he told them not to eat until the evening, an order which didn?t have god's blessing.
further saul was worried about his vengeance and his name not jehovah's.. .

New DF/DA Policy?
by new light inwould someone who has the new od book explain any changes in "keeping the congregation clean"?
is it still the same policy or have they actually changed anything?
i'd especially like to know if they are changing their tune on the "inactive".

I was told the other day that if anybody is ' inactive ' or has ' drifted ' then they should be treated the same as somebody who has been formerly disfellowshipped.
This was passed onto me third hand, but from a reliable source and also I heard that this happened in a local supermarket on the weekend, when an inactive sister was snubbed by a local elder.
I missed the incident sadly - that particular elder is a bit of a twit anyway and does not understand how to conduct himself at the best of times. If the society have approved snubbing of this variety, then he has been let off the hook socially.

I said a terrible thing to a Christian Aid worker many moons ago, when approached to give money.
I basically said that as one of Jehovah's Witnesses I don't give money to other organizations connected with false religion, regardless of whether the money is going to the needy.
She turned on her heel and asked where that was written in the Bible.
She had a good point actually and I simply walked away feeling smug.
How dreadful

1914 - don't let it go
by A Paduan indoes anyone (blondie?
) have the wt "1914 generation" references (& website stuff) that express the recent 'old light' (most recent articles please) - and how long this was emphatically taught as matter fact - i would like to compile them and hand them to the next jw who knocks - for some reason i think that this is current and cannot be denied so easily.
i've never been jw but i clearly remember people at the door insisting that "this generation...........blah, blah, blah) - which of course now is not the case.

That's interesting information 'mouthy' ... I forgot how hardline the society was regarding the 1914 teaching. It's pathetic really, but then their central doctrine revolves around that date.
If they had a more flexible approach towards that date and it's spiritual (in)significance, then I'm sure they would lure back the odd so-called apostate.
There is no doubt that 1914 was a terrible year for the world scene, but the synchronicity regarding Russells prophetic date and the great war, could have had other meanings.
Why does it have to signify Satan being confined to the earth during that year?

That's because you cling to one idea of god, the super duper christian
I didn't state my belief in the nature of God, but you are partially correct and yes, I think ' the Christian' idea of God is not a terrible concept.
Certainly my mind gravitates towards that idea, although I have attempted to embrace the idea of a God that is living energy passing through all things seen and unseen.
Allow to be removed all that proves to be wrong.
That is a little difficult when we are discussing metaphysical issues. I may feel there is a God, or say that 'I know', but how can I truly define the nature of God in an absolute sense? Impossible.
Thanks for the thoughts

It doesn't take much imagination to picture a god toying with molecules that replicate themselves and just watching what happens.
Doesn't that idea then reduce God to being less than a God, due to his lack of ability to know the results of the experiment with molecules?
... and if God chooses not to know the results of toying with molecules, why would God choose to deceive himself, unless he was bored.
Surely God, by the standard definitions, would know all possible permutations of the experiment?
In this instance, God appears to be limited, vulnerable, or smaller than the whole
Don't get it.

They have an almost psychotic approach to reality and life. They are in many ways, like the paranoid schizophrenic who fights to protect the delusion that is their reality.
Absolutely.

Still think theres a God
The only observed mechanism by which this can be accounted for is hereditary relationship.
What about unobserved mechanisms?
I like to believe in fairy tales.

They dont want to go back in, but feel it is still the truth and that they must encourage you!!
I had experience of this myself.
They are always waiting for armaggeddon and their execution. Very sad.
I know a couple of people like that and possibly used to feel that way myself for a few years.
The one guy is militant, when supporting the society, even though the society have dumped him on the outside and pretty much cut him off from everything he has trusted in for over 30 years. I get annoyed with him at times for supporting an institution that shows so little care, but then step back and realize that he is simply weak and damaged.

They won't sit and study "Christian Freedom / Ray Franz" ... if they had they truth, they would commit themselves to study any material, as truth should stand before anything.
